Klarinet Archive - Posting 000580.txt from 1997/02

I haven't seen any reference here to Daniel's reeds. My wife's clarinet
teacher has recently started using them and recommending them to his
students also. He doesn't like the Zondas. Has anyone on the list used
Daniel's, and what do you think of them? Out of 10 in a box probably eight
play well after conditioning and minor adjustment. They are also cheaper
than the VanDoren V-12's.

PS. Last week a posting of mine resulted in the most virulent response to
any posting I have seen on Klarinet. I was accused, in very strong terms,
of a religious posting. I'm extremely puzzled by that response. I was
responding to the thread that was ongoing at that time regarding the word
"onanism", and was simply filling a gap I had seen up to that time. I got
my information from a dictionary (Webster's 8th New Collegiate), and just
listed the specific reference in the piece of literature that has given
us the word. The literature was the Bible, but my posting would have been
virtually unchanged if it had been from Plato or Shakespeare. I did not in
any way indicate whether I believe that the Bible is fact or fiction, or
even relevant at all, and simply posted the information relevant to the
discussion. There is more religious content on U.S. currency ("In God We
Trust") than in my posting. I sincerely apologize for the part I played in
this ugly episode, while remaining very puzzled how it happened. I have
not ever made, nor will I ever make, a religious posting to Klarinet. I
believe strongly that that would be very inappropriate.

PPS. PLEASE limit any public responses to this posting to the subject of
Daniel's reeds. I am posting this on the list because the attack on me was
posted on the list.
