I can see where one could feel that the bass clarinet part was
terribly boring. I played one many ages ago in a concert band and
the majority of the parts for it showed a definite lack of
creativity. Very often the arrangers had done nothing more than
duplicate another bass line and had been none to creative with that.
It was only later that (on my own) I discovered that there really
were some worthwhile pieces written for it (as has been noted).
