It is my opinion that if the sax/clar doubler actually can hear in his mind
the
sound that he is trying to produce, the slight embouchure changes will occur
naturally. There has to be some difference because the saxophone mouthpiece
enters the mouth almost horizontally. The clarinet mouthpiece more
vertically.
The greatest problem for the clarinet player is not having a model sound to
strive
for on the saxophone. When they are developing their clarinet sound, they
usually
know who they want to sound like. Many novice sax players are not sure.
Mostly it will depend upon the type of music they will be playing.
