I have had the same problem as well, is it only with the 4's? It's been
awhile since I've used 3.5 v12's and can't remember.

I'd recommend the rico Grand Concert Reeds. I myself have not had the
chance to play on them a whole lot (gotta use up all these v12 I got) but
from what little experience I've had I'd say that they're a better
quality reed.
