IR> Hi all,

IR> I am ready to take lessons now, (I played in school, then didn't for
IR> about 20 years, and have been getting back to it for about a year now)
IR> I was wondering how one goes about finding the right teacher. Since I
IR> am paying this person to teach me, I would think that before hiring
IR> him/her that there would be an "interview" of sorts. Yes? Is that
IR> proper ? I would expect them to be at a certain level of playing etc.
IR> as well as being able to play a certain type of music.. ie. - jazz
IR> vs. classical vs swing etc. Not to mention personalities. Any advice
IR> would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't think an interview would be a problem. If they are a serious
teacher, they should give you a 'sample' lesson, maybe just 15 minutes,
so you can decide if you like them. But I won't make a real big formal deal
of an interview. Keep in mind most teachers have limited time.
Consider what you want to do (i.e. as a hobby, classical, etc.).
