My Dad bought me my Penzel Mueller used from a jazz clarinetist when
I was about 11 years old, 46 years ago. Now I alternate between my son's
Buffet R-13 and my Penzel Mueller. The Buffet DOES produce a slightly
better tone and the Penzel Mueller has always been a little sharp but
I can't tell any difference in the way it plays from the day I got it through
high school, college, grad school, professorship and, soon, retirement.

I dab it with some oil maybe every 6 months and keep looking for the
yellow from the raw chamois to drip out. I have to keep alert though
because that dratted flutist keeps turning around trying to sneak a
peak up my barrel. I know what's on HER mind! One can't be too
careful in these matters.
