Mark,
I HAD forgotten about "flavors" when I posted my message this morning.
The first piece of "music" I ever composed was a "fanfare" for a
computer assisted testing program I wrote about 10 years ago called
Micro SOCRATES (following from an earlier mainframe version).
The chromatic scale that I used was based on the formula f=440*2^(1/12)
(That looks about right, anyway -- I don't want to go back to the source
and check to make sure)

After I discovered how easy it is to do, I put in all kinds of "error message
themes" for different errors: Night on Bald Mountain, the opening of
Beethoven's 5th, Funeral March of the Marionettes, Sorcerer's Apprentice, etc.
Folks who look for flavors probably would be terribly frustrated
because my scale is based on the formula above.
