I wonder how many know who Steven Trier was? (a British bass clarinetist
and also saxophonist) And how many religious zealots or unashamed
atheists for that matter, can give the etymology of onanistic (Onan was
an old testament practitioner of birth control- I won't go into detail
as it might be offensive, though it is quite plainly written in
"scripture")?
I find many subjects personally interesting, but as this list is
dedicated to the clarinet, and there having been no religious writings
concerning the clarinet, one must consider religion irrelevant the
instrument.

As an aside, Dizzy Gillespie (who was of the Bahai faith I
believe), when asked his religious persuasion, once replied: "I am a
devout musician"!
