The whole subject is one of common curtesy. When at a gathering there
are two topics that are never to be brought up for discussion: religion
and politics. I was taught that by my parents at an early age.

A signature file is part of an e-mail message. The e-mail message is part
of the general discussion. The above curtesy extends to all members of
the e-mail group as if they were guests in your house or you were a guest
in theirs.
