Klezmer fans in the New York metro. area will be interested to know that a
rare joint concert by Kapelye and the Greater Metropolitan Klezmer Band will
take place at the Conservative Synagogue of Riverdale, 250th Street and Henry
Hudson Parkway, on Sunday evening, March 9th, at 6:30 PM.

The GMKB, which will open the concert, features traditional klezmer music
with the sounds of Southeastern Europe, Asia Minor and the Middle East. The
group's personnel are Ismael Butera (accordion), Steve Elson (clarinet),
Michael Hess (various instruments), Dave Hofstra (bass/tuba) and Eve Sicular
(percussion).

Kapelye, now in its 17th year of performing traditional Yiddish music
throughout the World, is one of the pioneering groups responsible for the
renewed interest in klezmer music. It's latest CD, On The Air, was described
by the Forward as "the Sergeant Pepper of klezmer." Featured in Kapelye are
Eric Berman (tuba), Adrienne Cooper (vocals), Ken Maltz (clarinet), Henry
Sapoznik (banjo, vocals) and Pete Sokolow (piano).
