Another thing from my metallurgical concern days:
Has anyone ever had their new clarinet x-rayed or performed
sonograms? These are pretty common techniques for finding hidden
flaws in composite materials; if/when I ever own a new wood
clarinet maybe I'll strip it down and take it to one of the
specialty shops in town & have it NDT'd (non-destructive
testing) and see if there are latent problems. Couldn't
hurt (and since I live near detroit, there are plenty of shops
that have these capabilities).
