Yossi,
Depends on what style you're playing. Also, just as important as
the speed of the vibrato is the width. In Swing style, for example, the
vibrato is quite fast and wide. In the older "New Orleans" style, it is
much wider. In R & B the style of vibrato is slow but almost as wide as
the swing style, while in Bebop the style is quite narrow and slower than
Swing. Then there's classical, in which virtually anything goes, it seems
(if one is to judge by all the recordings out there). However, I suspect
that in the US it is deemed most acceptable to have a narrow, but somewhat
slow vibrato. Just my $.02.
