This is especially addressed to beginners like me (or
better or nicer or whatever than me):

My clarinet teacher (who will currently remain nameless
so I don't embarass him someday if anyone ever hears me sq^H^H
play) recommended that I get a chromatic tuner so I can work on
my embouchure and get notes in tune.

What a great gadget! As I tension/relax different muscles, move
my tongue, steady my diaphragm, etc., I get immediate feedback on
what it's done to the note (pitchwise). Doing long tones is
a whole heck of a lot more fun (I practiced the long tones with
my trumpet playing kid yesterday - even more fun) when you're
seeing what's happening.

I picked up a Korg AT-2 pretty inexpensively (about $55.00 USD).

Anyway, I don't buy gadgets like this all that often, but
this one is fun!

And yes, I just started the lessons on Saturday. My teacher is,
of course, a Klarinet member!
