I have played clarinet for close to 35 years, mostly self taught,
played in community bands in Northern British Columbia, always had a
great deal of fun.

since starting, I played on a Boosy & Hawks Edgeware wooden clarinet.
The last few times the instrument was in for service, I was told it
was worn out, needed re-keying, parts not available.... (the repair
person does not sell instruments so there was no personal gain in
selling me a new horn).

Last summer, I purchased a Buffet Greenline. prior to purchasing
the new horn, I spent some time reading all of your comments to this
list about good and not so good brands and models (Thanks for the
good advise). After spending quite some time trying all the
clarinets in the store (yamaha, noblet, buffet...), I settled on the
greenline as, too my ears and feel, it seemed virtually the same as
the Buffet Prestige which sold for twice the price. Mainly, if felt
right for me. I am happy with the instrument, many have commented on
the good quality of the sound. For those wishing to step up to a
better instrument, but do not want to pay the price of a Prestige or
equivalent horn, I recommend the Buffet Greenline composite, not
plastic, horn.
