I would like some input, concerning the direction of my performance
practices, from any list members who feel generous enough to help. I have
arthritis and it is beginning to affect my ability to play my instruments
(Eb, Bb, A clarinets, and alto sax and flute) well enough to please myself.
I haven't yet had complaints from conductors or other musicians, but I
suspect that they are beginning to notice a decline in my ability to execute
skills. I was wondering whether a change to newer instruments or a switch
to the larger and somewhat less demanding larger instruments (bass clarinet
and tenor sax) would be options to consider. I don't want to quit playing.
This is not a minor problem, as I have undergone 12 joint surgeries in the
last 7 yrs. Would anyone be kind enough to comment? Thanks for your thoughts.

Nancy
