=46ollowing recent discussion about Albert system
instruments..............Richard Muhlfeld's clarinets were actaully by the
Berlin maker Georg Ottensteiner. As Nicholas Shackleton writes in the
Cambridge Companion to the Clarinet, these were Barmann system instruments,
ie a modification of Iwan M@-----. Devotees of Brahms'
clarinet music will be interested in the forthcoming volume in the
Cambridge handbooks series entitled 'Brahms: Clarinet Quintet' by Colin
Lawson.
