This sounds really wierd. =) I attended high school
in San Diego, and for the largest part, most of the
clarinet sections were pretty evenly balanced in
terms of gender. It seemed pretty much that way,
except for a predominantly male trumpet section, and
a predominantly female flute section (surprise,
surprise). This also stems in part from the
conversion of woodwind players to other instruments
needed to boost a marching band's instrumentation.
