Just my observations...

In my experience, clarinet sections are split fairly equally, with a
slight majority of female. For reference, I am presently in college and
play in our Wind Ensemble and Pep Band.

In terms of sections being weighted more toward females than males:

Flute
Oboe
Clarinet
Sax
French Horn
Trumpet
Trombone
Percussion

This is my experience over time. Right now I'd say about two-thirds or
more of the Wind Ensemble is female, and even with a big flute (all
female) section that means that French Horns and Trumpet are predominantly
female.

It's lucky you're going so slowly, because you're going in the wrong
direction.
