From: Robert Resnik <resnik@-----.EDU> Subj: Help needed to identify a clarinet key system! Date: Tue, 21 Jan 1997 17:17:40 -0500
Dear fellow Klarinetters,
I recently got my hands on an old clarinet which I would love to find out
some information about. It's marked "C.Kruspe Erfurt" on every joint and
has a big letter "B" underneath. The trademark is an image of a butterfly
over the writing.
The key system is one which I have never seen before. There are rollers
on two keys under each pinkie, but unlike any Albert system I have ever
seen before there is also a small raised key between the two roller keys
for the left pinkie. The four side trill keys seem to be almost like a
modern Boehm system clarinet. The G# key has a little tab on it which
allows it to be played by the right index finger as well as the left
pinkie. The octave key is coupled to the rings encircling the top two
left hand finger holes, and closes a tiny pad which sits directly under
the A key. When the A key is depressed this tiny pad closes also.
The thumb hole is bushed with brass, but has no ring.
Any opinions would be much appreciated!
Best wishes,
Robert Resnik
