Hi Andrew.

CVofT doesn't have a chapter on Ettlinger (don't forget the double t) -
he's mentioned as the teacher of James Campbell ("From this man
[Ettlinger], who was so self-critical it was as if the artist were against
society, James learned a great deal about music."). PW also mentions that
Israeli composer Joseph Tal wrote a concerto for him, but he died before he
was to premiere it (in 1985), and that he studied with Louis Cahuzac. The
new Cambridge Companion to the Clarinet mentions that he recorded the
Brahms Trio around 1970.
