This certainly has opened a thread! I can't resist. I have been lurking
on this group for a longtime now and posted twice with questions.

I started with clarinet about 3 -4 years ago. I am now 71. Don't worry
about being a late-comer to any activity that makes you tingle. I began
the recorders at 37 and the cello at 39. Playing in ensemble has always
been one of the pleasures of life. There have been times when I have put
aside one or another of the instruments but they are a skill that can
be renewed to some level of playing that can be satisfying. Don't be
hard on yourself. If it's a hobby, treat it as such. My present music
activity is Tuesday morning Clarinet Duets and Thursday evening String
Quartet .

I did play the clarinet one Thursday when the violist missed the
session. One of the violinists played guitar and we tried the Easy
Klezmer by Giora Feldman. Not too shabby.
