Steve:

You've begun an exciting journey. I started playing clarinet almost four
years ago at age 52. My goal is to play jazz. I'm getting close now. I
worked only with books and tapes until recently. Then I found an
excellent teacher in my own town.

I can give you a lot of advice based upon my own experience of getting
around to a lifetime desire to make my own music. Feel free to contact
me directly anytime for help.

One piece of unsolicted advice: If you are committed and can afford it,
don't waste your time with a student clarinet. Get yourself a pro model
right away. I suggest a Buffet R13 (Approx. $1,500). This is the
industry standard. It's a wonderful intrument that is a joy to play. You
will learn much faster with a well-made clarinet.

Good luck!!
