To Mitch and other eefer players,

In a couple of weeks my ancient Buffet Eb and I will be going down to
Sarasota for the winter meeting of the circus music enthusiasts called
Windjammers Unlimited. For about five days we'll be playing the music
>from about the turn of the century on that circus bands used for the
circus acts and the warmup concert before the show. It'll be everything
>from galops, two-steps, waltzes, and serenades to transcriptions of
overtures and the like. And don't you think that the eefers and the Db
piccolos get a workout; they were often the only top voices in the music!

Although I'm principally a symphony and show percussionist (tympani,
mallets, and the like), I gladly switch to Eb clarinet for this fun
experience. We play mainly for our own enjoyment, as well as play for a
performance of Sailors Circus, a high school level training group for
future circus performers. I highly recommend Windjammers to anyone who
would like to play some of this mostly unfamiliar circus band music.
