Probably the Weber "Concertino" you mention is the version by La Garde =
Republicaine, which is available on CD (The Clarinet, Historical =
Recordings Volume II, Clarinet Classics CC 0010). The CD notes by =
Michael Bryant state that this was recorded in 1929, that La Garde =
Republicaine had 20 clainettists, and that all the first clarinets =
(number not given) played the solo part. It is really quite an =
astonishing performance, not at all Florence Foster Jenkinsish. This =
CD, and its predecessor (volume I), contain many fascinating things.

As to the Mozart Quintet, Richard Gilbert's invaluable "Clarinettist's =
Discography III" lists a recording by one Duques, issued on Stradavari =
Str 601 and CS 268. Apparently Gilbert has reissued this on his own =
Grenadilla label (RGP 1002); he identifies the string players as Eidus, =
Green, Zir and Ricci. I have no information regarding dates, and have =
not heard this recording. =20

I was speaking with an old teacher of mine recently and he made =
reference
to two recordings which I am wondering if they are still available. . .

--Weber Concertino as performed with 7 (yes, seven) clarinetists in
unison with orchestra. I wrote down something about "italian," and that
could mean that the clarinetists were italian and/or the orchestra was
this italian orchestra.

--Mozart Quintet performed by the clarinetist Duquhess. He wasn't sure
of the spelling, and either am I.

Would anyone know anything about these two recordings? It is my guess
that the first one would be right up there with Florence Foster Jenkins,
yet, different.

But his recommendation of the second one was for the excellent =
performance.
