I have had good luck with NoteWorthy, also distributed as shareware. The
shareware version has some built-in nuisances, such as printing
"shareware version" prominently on every page of the score. Also, files
created with the shareware version can only be saved 10 times. However,
the program did meet my needs, I purchased the full version. A few
things are missing, but they are very receptive to suggested
enhancements, and issue updates fairly regularly.
They have a pretty good web page at:

I have the shareware version of Noteworthy, too. I was going to make use
of it, but it turned out to be at least as slow as writing the stuff out
by hand. It uses an awful lot of key shortcuts; no doubt it would be
slightly faster if I had the time to learn them.
