I'm using Rhapsody by Passport, which is pretty much the poor man's
Finale - it's got most of the flexibility of Finale, and allows
dynamics, trills, turns, pedal markings, grouping, bezier curves
for ties, and more. It's a little "hokey" for the MIDI track (the
MIDI track has to be hidden when you print it because Rhapsody,
while it can put all sorts of markings on the page, doesn't translate
them to MIDI). You edit the MIDI as a separate operation - I use
Cakewalk or Studio for that.

I think it was $100 or $120, and hasn't given me much trouble, but
the learning curve is steep (but not as bad as Finale). Typography,
especially music notation, is a real art.
