The joy of a mazzeo clarinet is that you don't NEED to adjust the throat
tone intonation (although, if I remember correctly - I haven't played it for
four year's now - the third finger ring does not activate the mazzeo
mechanism). Would you like to try the instrument out for yourself? What
I recommend is that you mail me a check for $1500 U.S. and I can ship it
to you postage COD, hold the check until you decide, and then if you like
it I can cash the check, or if you don't care for it and mail it back to me I
could return the check to you. Sound like a good way to decide if it is an
instrument you would really like to own?

One of my professors here at Coe asked me to post this.

For Sale:

Full-Boehm Mazzeo Selmer Bb Clarinet collector's item good condition
asking $1500 contact wcarson@-----.edu

I would leap at this if I had $1500 (+ shipping costs?!) However, I would
be interested to know how to adjust the intonation on throat notes on a
Mazzeo-system instrument. You presumably can't use any of the L.H.
fingers, as they would (if I've got it right) close the B flat key.
Someone asked Mazzeo about this when he came over to a CASS
conference a few years back, but he just looked blank.

Re: ?sending & paying for MAZZEO clarinet
Dear William Carson:
Assuming I had the funds at present, I couldn't do it that way, because:
(1) U.S. type COD is
not possible in the U.K.;
(2) I have no access to a dollar account (though I know someone who does)
- only an international money order would be (theoretically!) feasible.
Are the throat notes *really* that good? I mean the A in particular,
clearly. How does the Mazzeo mechanism affect the sidekey fudges for the
B natural and C?
