Date: Sat, 28 Dec 1996 08:03:10 -0500

I regret to have to announced the sudden death on Dec. 17, of the NY
clarinetist Herb Sucoff of the rupture of a blood vessel in the
pancreas.

Sucoff and his wife Barbara Speer, a pianist, founded the Sea Cliff
chamber players in 1975. Sucoff was born in Brooklyn and earned his
degrees from the High School of Performing Arts, the Julliard School and
Queens College.

He was a friend and student of Stefan Wolpe a catalog of whose music he
compiled and published. He was clarinetist in residence and educational
director of the Craftsbury Chamber Players in Vermont for 13 years
and he performed with the Sea Cliff players until 1983.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Rebecca, of Athens, NY,
and Katrina.
