In observance of the longest night of the year north of the equator and the
longest day of the year south of the equator, I have added the MIDI and .MUS
files of the piano reduction of Franz Danzi's Sinfonia Concertante, Opus 41,
for Flute and Bb Clarinet to my Web page. It is a gentle and charming work
which I hope will give you pleasure during the holidays.

The world premier Clarinet Karaoke performance of the work took
place this morning in the back room of our house where I correct
chemistry papers. The audience included our geriatric cat Samantha
who regrettably, owing to a hearing loss, could not appreciate my
exquisitely sensitive interpretation. Worse yet, she slept through the
entire third movement. Now THAT'S getting NO respect! The other
attendee, almost a participant as it turns out, was a wayward cricket
who breached the threshold of the door leading from our garden. This
unexpected guest seemed to be intent on auditioning for a part in
the performance, out of tune at that, or possibly it was only giving fair
warning of an upcoming cricket critique, but as we couldn't agree on a
common tempo he or she thankfully fell silent just as things got started
and didn't budge until I got up to take a bow.

In any case, I send my warmest holiday wishes to all; my Music Web
Page address for you newcomers is
