Chris,

The problem is a leak in your clarinet. Probably the E/B and F/C
balancing. When you play a fourth line D, you should be able to place
the left finger on the E/B lever, press it down lightly and have the
B pop right out. No hesitation. If this is not the case, play the B
with your left hand lever, and press down lightly on the right hand
F/C key. If this improves the response, the F/C key is not closing
with the E/B key. If there is no improvement, press down on the right
hand E/B lever while playing the B. If this improves the response,
the F/C key may be closing ahead of the E/B key and keeping the E/B
key from closing. If neither helps the problem then there is a leak
somewhere else on the instrument.

I hope this helps some. If you still can not find the problem, email
me and I'll help you trouble shoot it.

later,

Steve
