When they did the grand partita here a couple of years ago, they rented a
pair of Bassets from the Buffalo symphony. They are ok, but not amazing
(Leblanc instruments). Also for a cconcert that Mr. Grant did of the
Mendelssohn Concertpiece, Ray Ricker (sax faculty here and bass clar. in the
Rochester Phil) borrowed a single horn from somebody in Syracuse (Dan
Abrams, I believe) and it was a selmer.
