For some time I'd experienced a clarinet burnout (the sort of thing which is
not an option for professional players). I always had a sound in my mind
which was my personal ideal and toward which I aimed. But this sound or "
tone" I cherished didn't have enough flexibility to it. Recently, I cut back
on the strength of my reed and have discovered an entirely new (for me)
range of color and expression. I have to be more careful, but my God how
much more *expressive* and varied my playing is. ----Bill.
