Michelle,

Thanks for the information on Frank Ticheli, which was also
reported by others. I had previously heard Ticheli's "Postcard" on an
orchestral CD by the Pacific Symphony, but was unaware that he had also
done a transcription for band.

I met the composer recently when he conducted the
Caltech-Occidental Band in a number of his pieces. I particularly liked
his suite of Cajun Dances and his transcription of "Amazing Grace," which
is contained on a recently released CD of performances by the
Caltech-Occy group.

Another aspect about Ticheli that interested me was that one of
his composition teachers was William Bolcom (now at the University of
Michigan) who had composed a clarinet piece for me in 1984.
