Linda,
About two years ago, I played Ponchielli's two-clarinet solo,
"Il Convegno," with a string-orchestra accompaniment, and I highly
recommend the transcription to you. As the many list members who have played
the solo parts with piano or band accompaniments will probably agree, the
clarinet parts are a hoot. Furthermore, in this transcription, the string
parts are not difficult.
The orchestra arrangement was done by Dr. Ted Stern, Chairman of
the music department at the Glendale Community College, Glendale,
California. His E-mail address is tastern@-----. If you are interested
in this transcription and need further assistance, please let me know at

Best wishes,
Connie
