I have used Dutch rush for years and much prefer it over knives
and sandpaper. It leaves no splinters, is quick to use and can be used
while the reed is on the mouthpiece, during practice or performance.
It lasts forever, if you are careful with it, and can be used wet
or dry. As far as why one would pay for it, instead of hunting down
one's own supply in the wild, well it lasts so long (I only buy
about $15 worth every ten years), it just isn't worth the effort
expended.
