Because it's easier to blow someone else's horn rather than your own, I'd
like to bring to the list's attention a great CD recently put out by
Klarinetter and frequent contributor Eric Nelson. It's his unusual
clarinet and guitar duo "Lightwood", and features mostly lighter
crossover fare with an amazing Bartok suite for Eb clarinet as well. Eric
plays pretty much the entire clarinet family on this album, and sounds
terrific! Great sound and intonation, and very good balance with what
must be a challenging instrument to blend with due to the guitar's less
resonant sound. There is everything from Sting to Bernstein here, and
it's a real pleasure to hear something off the well-worn track in
clarinet recordings. Eric's email address is:
