Subj: tarogato anyone???

I remember a posting here (or maybe an article in "The Clarinet") in
which a West Coast studio player talked about playing a tarogato a
composer had brought in for him to play for a film score. The player said
it was great; the instrument could play in any keys, all keys and even in
all keys on one note! Apparently it was so pitch-unstable the composer
readily agreed to his doing the solo on sop.sax. He pointed out that
"gato" means cat in more than a few languages!

Cheers,
P
