This thread has made some good points on the strengths and weaknesses of the
Spohr Concerti.

In my mind, Spohr's real treasures for the clarinet are the Sechs Deutsche
Leider for soprano, clarinet and piano. These make a lovely partner to the
Shepherd on the Rock. I haven't performed these for 20 years but frequently
take out the clarinet part of the leider for the playing pleasure of such a
stunning part.
