I think you mean cocus wood
this is the traditional wood of german mouthpieces.
About 15 years ago I had a discussion with Karlheinz Hahn, at that time an
active player in Munich (he may be retired now) who used cocuswood
mouthpieces at that time. The main point was that he did find he had to
adjust the facing from time to time because the wood does move a bit. I had
the impression that the older generation of german players knew how to do
this themselves instead of going to a mouthpiece expert.
