How many times do we have to say "it's not the wood, it's the player"!
(just kidding)

Subject: new Opus

A fellow music major here at UW-W recently went to Kenosha, Wi
to pick out Concerto Bb and A clarinets. While their she saw one of the
new things that Lablanc is cooking up.....a red wood Opus. Has
anybody else heard of this? How exactly does red wood play differently
than the African Blackwood (impingo, grenadilla, different names for
the same thing) clarients that most of us play? Is LaBlanc the first
company to attempt using redwood. I know Mr. Rossi uses it, but I hadn't
heard of anyone else trying this.
