Can someone please demystify mouthpiece facings for me? What is the
difference between an "open" a "regular" and a "closed" facing. How does
this change sound quality, reed responsiveness, strength of reed required
etc. How does one decide which type of facing is most appropriate for a
given playing style? Until now I have "whimped out" and chosen a regular
facing because of lack of knowledge. Any information would be appreciated
before I start my search for a new mouthpiece.
