The discussion began as a question regarding potential hazards of getting
cork grease on the wood of the clarinet. Someone suggested mink oil
instead of grease. I have known mink oil in the past as a
waterproofing/protectant for leather boots, so yes, you probably could get
it at a shoe shop. There were a few comments from some animal rights
wackos [ ;-) ] until it was revealed that mink oil is a vegetable
product, not made from minks at all.
