Dear David:

I beg to differ with you. The key in question has two functions, *register
key* and *b-flat key*. The action you were describing had to do with its
role in producing a b-flat. Therefore it *is* a b-flat key at that moment.
Therefore, you were correct in naming it a *b-flat key*!! So, you were
*not* so brain dead after all. Your message was perfectly correct and
quite coherent.
