Linda Brady writes re: sore lip problem for her daughter. This reply does
not answer her actual question about how to get those plastic lip savers,
but does offer an alternative that may be a better long term solution

For years, I have dealt with the sore lip problem by using a small piece
of fabric over my lower teeth. (I had one tooth that crossed over another
a bit). However, the ideal solution for me was supplied by Rosario
Mazzeo. I read an article by him in which he had a dentist construct a
synthetic removable cap for the lower teeth. I showed this article to a
musician friend of mine who was a dentist. He was intrigued, and made one
for me. I've been using it for approximately twenty years. Haven't had a
sore lip since!

I don't have the article any more, but someone on the list may be aware
of this solution.
