Subj: Trial Session for Jerry Hall Mouthpieces
Date: Mon, 28 Oct 1996 19:13:15 -0500

Jerry Hall, widely known for his interest and expertise in clarinet
mouthpieces, tentatively plans to be in the Washington, DC, area on
Saturday, NOVEMBER 2 to display his wares. Time and place are yet
uncertain. Please E-mail me so I can let Jerry know if you're interested;
let me know what specific item you'd like to try.

I have been playing Jerry's JC 1 facing of Pomarico rock crystal mouthpiece,
and it is fantastic. The sound is gorgeous and I find it very easy to
connect the notes. Pitch is a bit high, but very manageable.

Jerry will have 3 facings to try, including the wide open JC 3. Several
players have taken up these mouthpieces following Jerry's last visit in
September.

Jerry will also be showing black mouthpieces and barrels, as well as his
plastic student mouthpieces. Again, my 13-year old daughter tried the JC-1
and wouldn't let me rest until I let her put it in her case. These student
mouthpieces are very competitively priced.

Here is the facing info again:

JC 1 : 33 23 12 6-/5+ w/ 100- tip: this is the Genussa/Wright/Madsen
facing, made a bit closer for use with harder reeds. It is designed to
provide outstanding high register and good throat tone intonation.

JC 3: 36/37 23/24 13/14 8/9 1.25 mm: this is a *big*, flexible
mouthpiece for those who like/need to bend pitch. Jerry thinks it's ideal
for doublers. (I have a similar facing on the black Zinner angled sidewall
mouthpiece and it is amazing how much the pitch and tone can be altered.
Makes it easy to match the other sections in my community orchestra) Using
this flexibility tires the chops and reduces playing time. But, it's alot
of fun!)

JC 2: 36 23 13 7 110-12 tip: this is an "in-between" variant.
