Scott and everyone,
Eiji Oue, the Minnesota Orchestra's music director, is a master of expressive
gestures. I have seen him conduct on numerous occasions, met him in person, and
played under him as a guest conductor with our school orchestra just this past
Monday. There is not a part of him that is full of musical energy and
enthusiasm. We played the slow movement of Howard Hanson's "Nordic" symphony
(#1), and Beethoven's "Egmont" overture. I have never played under anyone who
has shown so vividly a deep love of music, as well as those who perform it.
Musically yours,
Greg Baker
