As to getting active again--I'm sure there has to be at least a community
band or orchestra in the Phoenix area that would welcome you with open
arms--good players, even if rusty, are a delight, especially those whose
training goes beyond high school and who have some sensitivity (as your
problem with the hassles in your college experience show you to have) Check
with the local library or newspaper for concert listings and approach the
conductor after a performance and ask about joining the group.

Also, consider chamber music--put up a sign in music stores and other likely
places--even the personals in the paper. Not everyone out there is looking
for "moonlight walks"--some might even be looking for real music! Forming
your own group is a little scary at first, but there should be music you can
check out of the library (university or music school) or borrow from
schools--if you do them some favors in return--to get you started without too
great an expense. Also if you have any improvisational skill, jam sessions
on pop music will help you get your skills back if you can find a few others
interested in doing it.

Have fun and don't get discouraged,

Joie
