I too, have been playing a very long time, and when it came to
college, I had no idea what I was going to do. I applied to music schools
adn liberal arts schools alike. I decided, in the end, not to go for the
music major. I love to play, but that's all I knew of music. I figured,
I could get to school, and if I changed my mind, I could transfer. I find
that I'm very happy where I am, not majoring in music, but still playing.
I play much much more in college tehn I did in high school. I join every
group possible, and I take lessons. I was afraid when I got to college I
would feel like I would not have enough time for the clarinet. But I'm
finding it the best thing in my life right now, and I fear that if I made
it my major, it would be the work in my life, and not the pleasure. And
don't think that just because you're not a music major that music will not
always be an important factor of your life. Also, another interesting
fact our professor told us...85% of all CEOs in the United States come
from a musical background. Doing music is just as important for non-music
majors than for majors.
On another note...I subscribe to clarinet by digest. I was
wondering how to (pun absolutely intended) undigest, and receive the
mailings in separate mail forms. Thanks a bunch.

Marissa
