Can't you hold the entire right hand down while playing the thumb-F? I'm
not a professional musician, and I don't have my clarinet handy to try,
but I'm pretty sure you can keep your right hand down on the F without
affecting the pitch much.

I don't think so. It works with the C a twelfth above, giving an
interesting and useful change of timbre - but odd things happen with the F.
In fact, the little finger keys (including the F/c) also have some effect
on the tone.
