He's not only what you just said, but he's also the nicest judge I have
ever had. When I was a freshman in high school, he was my judge for
this solo and ensemble contest we have in my city,Cedar Rapids.
Anyway, my accompanist messed up by not taking a cut and we ended
up having to stop and start again to get back together. Needless to say, I
was embarrassed and devestated. (I thought I made the mistake at the
time but later realized it was the accompanist)Anyway, as I was getting
the music back from Voxman, he asked me if I at least had a good time. I
know that may sound like some little inconsequential thing but it made me
feel better and changed how I looked at the whole playing thing.

Linda,
I gave some information on Voxman's recent whereabouts in a
previous posting. Check the Archives in the last few weeks (under my
name?) and you'll find his phone # in Iowa City (or call information there).
He has been an enormously influential pedagogue, as editor of the
Rubank method books, and has been a prodigious arranger and
composer for winds.
